Wall of Wonderful Women February 2022 Week 2

Hello Ladies!

As we continue to celebrate Fit Chicks! 10th anniversary, we thought it would be fun to create a Wall of Wonderful Women in the studio! We’ve asked women to take a few minutes to think about their time at Fit Chicks! and share a bit of their story by answering these four questions.

  1. When did you join Fit Chicks?

  2. Why did you join (and/or stay)

  3. What's one compliment you've received since making this community a part of your journey?

  4. AND what is your favorite trainer saying or idiosyncrasy!!!!

I decided that I wanted to share a bit of my story first! So here goes …

When did I join Fit Chicks!?

I joined Fit Chicks in August of 2016 though I had no intention of joining Fit Chicks! I came to Fit Chicks! because my daughter had just graduated from high school and needed a trainer to get ready for playing basketball at the collegiate level. Her high school basketball coach knew the head trainer at the time at Fit Chicks - Kelli. And that’s how I got connected with Fit Chicks!

Why did I join Fit Chicks!?

As I mentioned, I had no intention of joining, even though I was over 300lbs at the time. I ended up meeting with Roz while my daughter was at the studio, and we had a discussion about ME. For those of you who know Roz, you know that she is a truth-teller, and she will ask some very pointed, on target, “get to the nugget” type questions. Her questions helped me see the truth about me, and that I needed help right then. I agreed to a trial period to see how I liked it. In my mind, I still was resisting and thought to myself, I’ll do the trial, but that will be it! I just knew I wasn’t going to be staying. I decided not to correct her when she called me by an incorrect/mispronounced name. No need to, right?! It didn’t matter because I wasn’t staying!

A month later, I was still being called by the wrong name! And I signed the dotted line and joined! I was afraid that I would not be able to do the exercises and keep up. But everything was tailored to my ability. I was encouraged and able to keep up! A few months passed, and I decided it was time to tell them they were pronouncing my name wrong, so I finally corrected them. After all, I was staying, and it made sense that they called my name correctly!

What’s one compliment I received since joining this community?

I’ve gotten several compliments about my weight loss, and yes, that always feels good. But the one that gets me is when people tell me that they see a change in me, and I seem happier.

What is your favorite trainer saying or idiosyncrasy!!!!

There are so many!! The one that I think is my favorite is a pretty common saying. The saying is, “oh my gosh!” But the reason why it’s my favorite at Fit Chicks! is because it can come out in very different ways but with equal enthusiasm. I hear it from Roz and Jenn. Sometimes it can come out like a preface to a congratulation. For example, “Oh my gosh! You did it!” The other way that it comes out and makes me chuckle is the one that comes out in a “mind blown” kind of way. For example, “Oh my gosh, I just told you to do a squat, and you are doing a dead bug!” This one is not uncommon for me, I have to say, as I get focused on sucking in air to breathe sometimes, and the direction I am being given doesn’t quite land.

So ladies, when you send us your answers to these questions, they will be posted in the studio with your picture. I wasn’t concise in telling my story here, but I will have one or two sentences under each section when I post my answers in the studio. Please take time and share a bit of your WONDERFUL self and your WONDERFUL story with us as we celebrate Wonderful Women this month!

I love Fit Chicks! I am genuinely grateful to be a part of this community, and I look forward to many, many, many, more years together!
