March Shout-Outs! … AND We Are Still Stretching!

Hello Ladies!

It is still Flexi-lady month! How did last week’s challenge go? Shout out and thank you to Bernice, a true Fit Chicks Ambassador, and my workout buddy. Bernice says, “I think stretching helps the muscles, joints, improved flexibility, range of motion, improve your performance, helps prevent injuries, improves the ability to do more and enjoy daily activities with less pain.”

Bernice is right!! All of these things are true! Thanks, Bernice!

We will continue working on getting stretching into our lives this week with week 2’s challenge. Here’s the week two challenge:

Also, as we continue to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we want to send a shout-out to these two Wonderful Women who shared some of their stories with us. Alfreda and Sara, thank you for inspiring us, and we are celebrating you; and we love that you are prioritizing yourselves and that you are here with us! Please let us know how stretching goes for you this week. Also, please give a shout-out to these Wonderful Women!

Meet Alfreda!

I first noticed Fit Chicks 3 years ago on my social media. However, the distance to the studio from my home or work was impossible at the time. I retired in July 2020, but the pandemic and caring for my mother kept me from connecting with Fit Chicks until April of 2021. My goal was to become stronger and healthier and carve out space for myself.

Since joining, I have received compliments from my family and friends that “something” is different. They congratulate me on taking time for myself and that I appear to have more energy. I enjoy the community I have found at Fit Chicks. I am certainly never bored, and they keep me on my toes. I enjoy being greeted with a wave by Kay, a “Hello Beautiful” from Jenn, and “Alfreda, you’re crushing it!” from Kweku. Thanks so much for all you do!

Meet Sara and her mom!

I joined fit chicks in 2018, thanks to my good friend Cheryl who was already a member. I was recovering from kidney failure and newly diagnosed with Lupus. I was 15 pounds overweight from steroids and depressed. Fit chicks surrounded me with love, support, and strength. I love belonging to this community! People often say that I have energy and happiness surrounding me again. My favorite trainer is Kweku. I love how Kweku “bounces” when he shows us our moves.
