I SHOWED UP FOR MYSELF AND KEPT GOING!
Hi I’m Ellie
I watched the video, I CRIED!
Grief impacts people in different ways. Grief is real. Grief is low. Grief makes the ground beneath you unstable. Grief is sneaky and unpredictable. Grief is the thing you are left with when something precious is stolen from you. Grief suddenly turns your life into something unfamiliar to you. There is no planning for when grief arrives at your door.
The last two years have been more than challenging for me due to three significant losses in my family while I was making a career change. I was struggling with my mental load and how grief was impacting me. Trying to keep myself accountable for my physical health and well-being was very hard.
During this low time of my life, I was still going to Fit Chicks. Fit Chicks kept me moving and provided community during one of the most challenging times of my life.
Quicksand!
Fit Chicks finds ways to keep people engaged and challenged by holding fun challenges occasionally. One such challenge took place earlier this year. The challenge was called the “Quicksand Challenge.” The goal was to adjust the resistance on the cardio equipment of your choice making it harder to run, walk, or pedal on the machine you were using. We were working to hit 6k calories burned. Immediately, I knew that I wanted to participate in the challenge. This challenge helped me because it pulled me closer to the Fit Chicks community as trainers and women conversed more about the challenge. It gave me something to focus on that benefited my health and well-being when I really needed it. It was touch and go for a while because I got sick and missed two weeks of the challenge! The trainers and members were supportive and encouraged me to keep going. I didn’t give up. I kept going. The challenge ended, and I would not know who would be named the challenge winner for a few days.
Fit Chicks created and released a video to reveal the challenge winner. I watched it. I could not believe my ears! I had been named the Quicksand Cardio winner. I told Roz when I watched the video, I CRIED!
LOSS HURTS
At a time when everything seemed wrong and life was super hard, the supportive trainers and members were there for me.
I am so grateful for Fit Chicks, the trainers, and the community of women who come here to train. At a time when everything seemed wrong and life was super hard, the supportive trainers and members were there for me. Fit Chicks reminded me that I could get back up and keep going!
But most importantly, I was happy and proud of myself because I showed up for myself and kept going!
Now I’m a cardio queen!
Here’s to ME & 4 years at Fit Chicks!
